Description :

The CASI Level 1 Snowboard Instructor certification course is open to strong intermediate snowboarders, aged 15 years and older. Candidates on the Level 1 Course will spend time exploring snowboarding technique and teaching methods across a variety of venues, both on-snow (up to and including intermediate terrain) and during indoor presentations. The CASI Level 1 course is an introductory course, designed to give successful candidates the skills necessary to begin their role as a new instructor in the industry. Beginner teaching methods, understanding of basic snowboard technique, as well as lesson planning and effective communication skills will be addressed. Candidates will receive coaching on their snowboarding, as well as feedback on their teaching skills, with the goal of reaching the Level 1 standard in both of these areas. They will also receive suggestions and strategies for long-term development. The successful candidate is certified to teach beginner snowboarders up to the Novice Turn level. The Level 1 certification is a pre-requisite for the CASI Level 2 Instructor certification, as well as the Park Instructor course.

Course duration :

3 days totaling a minimum of 18 hours (including evaluations)

Note: Helmets are mandatory on all CASI courses. All CASI courses are given in either English (E) or French (F) with no bilingual course.

This document as a detailed description of the course and the complete agenda of this 3 days course. It contains the workshops that will need to be completed in order to get prepared for the course. These workshops will have to be hand out to the evaluator the first day of the course. It also as a copy of the evaluation form that will be used for the final evaluation.

Q. Is the Paypal credit card payment secure?

Q. Do I need to print the 60 pages Reference Guide that I've downloaded?

A. No. In fact, its only a portion of the Reference Guide that you will receive at the course. We suggest that you use this electronic version to complete the workshops foufn in the Course Guide.

Q. Do I need to print the Course Guide and the workshops included in it?

A. Its is mandatory that you print and complete them in order to be well prepared for the course and therfore, increase your chances of succes. Also, be filing these workshops now, you will have a reduced load of work to do during the course.

Q. I didn't receive a confirmation after proceeding to the online payment?

A. When you submit the form and that your payment as been accepted, Paypal sends you a confirmation receipt of the transaction. Then, snowquebec sends to your email adresse a confirmation with the details of the registration. If you didn't receive any of those, check in your junk mail as they would probably ended there. If you can't find it write us a message and we will send you the information

Q. Is the course still happening if there is rain on the forecast or not enough snow on the slopes?

A. Yes. As long as the resort is operational the course will happen as planed. You will need to bring appropriate clothing for the weather. In the case that the resort will be closed because of extreme weather we will contact you within 24hrs.

Q. How can I verify the status of a course?

A. You need to click on the calendar, on the course you are registered for. When you get to the group you will see the number of registration for that group. If the number of registration is sufficient ( 4 registrations or more) it will be indiacted "confirmed". If the group is full, it will be indicated "confirmed" and the link to register will not be active. There could be a message posted in case an important information will have to be communicated to the participants registered in that group.

Q. What do I need do bring to the course?

A. You will have to bring your complet snowboard equipment on the first day of the course. You will need clothing adapted to the temperature. Bring some money for the lift tickets. Bring a pen or a pencil for the indoor workshop.

Q. What's the cost of the lift tickets for the course?

A. Generally, the resorts offer's a discount of 50% off the regular daily lift ticket price for the participants. The resorts with this symbol (*) offers free lift tickets during the course. The evaluator will let you know of the ticket price the first morning of the course.

Q. What should be my skill level?

A. You should have solid intermediate riding skills. Be able to link turns easily and smoothly on both your toe and heel sides and be in control of your board at all times. Remember, this is a course that teaches you how to become an instructor therefore only half of your overall mark is for your riding skills.

Q. What kind of rider is CASI looking for


A. You should be able to ride in control.

Keep a consistent speed regardless of terrain, pitch and snow conditions.

Complete round finished turns..

Ride with your knees flexed.

Have the ability to slowly demonstrate a big, wide turn.

Have the ability to demonstrate at a very slow speed, basic snowboarding maneuvers such as side slipping & pendulum without losing your balance.

The ability to change the size of your turns from large to medium to smaller. 

Q. I took the course and only passed part of it, now what do I do? 

A. If you’ve failed either the riding or teaching, you have until the end of the next season to retake the portion failed. If it is riding, you’ll attend Day 1, and if it is teaching, Day 3. The cost for the re-test is $110.67 plus applicable taxes (126,08$). You need to go to the RETEST page of this site and fill a special form.

Q. What is the refund policy?

A. Refunds must be requested in writing. For late cancellations, the following charges may be made to the fee: within 2 weeks of the start of the course - 15%; within 3 days - 30%; no-show on course - 50%.

To know :

There are a number of limited places on the courses. There must be a minimum of 4 candidats per groupe for a course to run and a maximum of 8. You need to verify the number of allready registered participants in a group to ensure that the course will run as planed.
